Covid-19 relief.
The Challenge: Health Emergency Economizer Bypass
It is well recognized that outdoor air can be both healing or harmful depending on what is happening both outside and inside a building. The United States Environmental Protection Agency and other advising bodies have issued advice for indoor air quality that advocates, in one case, minimizing fresh air intake into the building and, in another case, maximizing fresh air intake during temporary emergency health conditions.
This advice is not contradictory. In the case of mitigating the risk of the COVID-19 virus, it is important to maximize fresh air intake to reduce potential airborne transmission of the virus. In the case of wildfire smoke affecting indoor air quality, it is important to minimize fresh air intake to minimize smoke exposure to the building occupants.
Covid-19 Relief Health Emergency ECONOLOGIX™ ECL-A100 Economizer Bypass Controller
In Passthrough Mode the economizer controls the damper using its normal energy-efficient strategy.
In Bypass Mode the damper is controlled by local manual adjustment of the ECL-A100 device.
Dampers adjust for optimal maximum or minimum positions for emergency conditions using the ECL-A100 device.
Maximizing ventilation with ECONOLOGIX™ ECL-A100 Economizer Bypass Controllers allows schools to open sooner by providing a simple solution for retrofitting existing ventilation equipment.
The ECONOLOGIX™ ECL-A100 Economizer Bypass Controller leverages the existing economizer’s energy savings while overlaying a temporary health emergency bypass strategy to maximize outside air ventilation for COVID Emergency conditions or to minimize outside air ventilation for Wildfire Emergency conditions.
The ECONOLOGIX™ ECL-A100 Analog Economizer Bypass Controller intercepts the existing economizer’s control signal output and either passes that control signal onto the damper actuator or it bypasses the existing economizer’s control signal and inserts a control signal set by the user. A supply air low-temperature shutdown sensor provides supply air temperature input to help protect equipment and save energy by closing the damper completely in Economizer BYPASS Mode when the temperature falls below the selected low-temperature value. Input power is either 24VAC or 24VDC. All (-) and (COM) signals are internally connected.
REQUIRES DIRECT SIGNAL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ECONOMIZER CONTROLS AND ACTUATOR.
